GREENVILLE - The Greenville Municipal Court announced today that the amnesty being offered prior to the upcoming warrant round-up will be extended until February 29, 2012.

The Greenville Police Department will soon begin an aggressive warrant round-up for individuals with outstanding municipal court warrants. Prior to the warrant round-up, the
Greenville Municipal Court will offer an amnesty period until February 29, 2012. The court is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
There are currently over 4,923 outstanding warrants, with several individuals having multiple offenses. These individuals collectively owe more than $1.7 million in outstanding fines to the City of Greenville. Individuals who pay their outstanding balances during the amnesty period will avoid arrests during the upcoming warrant round-up. Additionally, they will save money by avoiding the payment of a warrant fee and the cost of posting a bond.
A list of persons with outstanding warrants was published in the Herald Banner on Sunday, February 12.
Persons with outstanding tickets are encouraged to call the Greenville Municipal Court at 903-457-3129 immediately or visit in person at 3000 Lee Street. All fines and court costs must be paid in full following a conviction of a Judge’s order. The court accepts, cash, money orders, cashier’s checks and credit cards. Once the amnesty period is over, officers with the Greenville Police Department will begin aggressively serving warrants. Individuals with outstanding warrants could be arrested at their residence, place of employment, school or any other location.
