Scott Massy met with officials from the astronomy department at Texas Christian University, concerning what he was sure was pieces of a meteor which had been seen by thousands on the night of February 1st. Massy spoke with an assistant professor of geology, who said that it was not a meteorite; instead it was some form of iron-nickel industrial slag. Shortly after 8 PM on February 1st a fire ball crossed the North Texas sky, and if it did land it would have landed in Hunt County. Massy lives just East of Greenville.
