Anderson faces 20 years for possession conviction

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – A Rains County man has been convicted of possession of cocaine in connection to a 2007 incident in Commerce.

44-year-old Melroy Lynn Anderson, of Emory, was found guilty of the charge Wednesday.

He was scheduled to go to trial Tuesday on a indictment which included the possession charge as well as two counts of aggravated robbery. The Hunt County District Attorney's Office dismissed the robbery charges but trial proceeded on the drug charges.

A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for next Wednesday, June 23. He's facing a maximum sentence of from two to 20 years in prison.
