Annual Dairy Festival gets moo-ving

The annual Hot-Air Balloon Rally and Glow is set for the 2015 Hopkins County Dairy Festival.

“Just Moo it” over to Hopkins County to celebrate the start of the annual Dairy Festival this Friday and Saturday nights with the glow of 30 some usually-shaped hot air balloons at Shannon Oaks Church grounds located on I-30 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Opening ceremonies and ribbon cutting will be this Friday at noon on Celebration Plaza downtown Sulphur Springs. The evening will finish with the 5K Milk Run at 7 p.m. also at the Church.

The Dairy Festival Parade will start at 10 a.m. leaving from Buford Park travelling down Connally to Celebration Plaza to Lee Street on Saturday morning, June 13. This is followed by the Jr. Dairy Show, Milking Contest at 3 p.m., Texas Championship Ice Cream Freeze Off at 4 p.m. all at the Civic Center grounds.

The week of June 17-20 will be host to carnival with rides and vendors. The weeklong event concludes on Saturday, June 20 with the Dairy Foods Contest at 1 p.m. at the Texas Agrilife Extension Office and the Coronation of a new Dairy Festival Queen to take over Kennedy Potts reign at 7 p.m.
