Another demolition in Commerce

By Bill Oliver

Commerce, TX –

Over 30 structures have been razed the last seven years on the campus of Texas A&M University-Commerce. The latest was this week as the Century House apartments were demolished.

A&M-Commerce President Dr. Keith McFarland said the apartments were purchased this summer and were going to be occupied, but after further review he decided for immediate demolition.

Landscaping will occupy the lot, which is next door to the new Memorial Student Center. Also near the site is the new A&M-Commerce Alumni Center. Groundbreaking on the new center is scheduled for October 17th.

Slated for demolition later this year is Hubbell Hall. Under study is the future of Mayo Hall.
