By Brad Kellar

Lake Tawakoni, TX –

For the second time in a little more than a month, a Rains County man has been killed in an accident along the Two-Mile Bridge over Lake Tawakoni.

Aaron Ashmore, 20, of Point, was killed in a head-on collision on the Highway 276 bridge across Lake Tawakoni shortly before 1 a.m. the Saturday before New Year's, according to a report from the Texas Department of Public Safety. Ashley Dumond, 24, of Terrell, was injured in the accident.

Ashmore, who was serving in the military according to the report, was westbound on the highway, driving a 1992 Chevrolet when it veered into the eastbound lane and struck the 2003 Chevrolet truck in which Dumond was a passenger head-on.

Ashmore was pronounced dead at the scene. Dumond was transported to Parkland Hospital in Dallas where she was reported in stable condition with a broken leg.

Grady Neal Roberts, 32, of Point, was reported to have been driving a pickup truck eastbound across the Two-Mile Bridge on the night of November 19 when the truck crashed through the guardrail and entered the lake.
