Another pot bust along Interstate 30

By Scott Harvey

Greenville, Royse City – Authorities have arrested four people in a drug bust following a traffic stop on Interstate 30.

The four individuals arrested are Brendan Powell, Ronald Hill, George Pope and Kimberly Smith.

At approximately 2 a.m. on Wednesday, Royse City Police requested assistance from Greenville Police Department and Hunt County Sheriff's Office in stopping a possible decoy vehicle that had been observed traveling with another.

After obtaining the vehicle description, officers conducted a stop on the suspect vehicle for a traffic violation at the 92 mile marker. After several criminal indicators were observed, verbal consent to search the vehicle was requested and obtained.

In the trunk of the vehicle, 31 pounds of suspected marijuana, and a semi-automatic handgun were discovered. Paperwork and cell phones tied the two vehicles and occupants together.
