A large apartment complex fire left about 36 people without homes on the night of Dec. 1, police said.
The incident happened at The Corners apartments, located in the 1900 block of Caddo Street. Emergency responders received a call at 10:59 p.m., police said. The flames were quickly put out, but by then the fire had damaged about 24 units, they said. Among the 36 people without homes were one infant and a 13-month-old baby, police said.
First Baptist Church provided overnight housing to seven people, while others left homeless by the fire are staying with family and friends, according to police. American Red Cross volunteers responded to the event, police said.
