Appeal Scheduled in Bonnie Lou Case
An appeal is scheduled to be heard early next month for a Greenville man found guilty and sentenced to prison in connection with a 2010 armed robbery of a Quinlan area game room.
Guadalupe Ramirez III was found guilty in November 2011 on one count each of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a peace officer, and three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The jury in the 196th District Court sentenced Ramirez to 75 years in prison. The 6th District Court of Appeals in Texarkana intends to hear Ramirez’s appeal on November 7.
Ramirez and Darius Demont Williams of Van Alstyne allegedly acted alongside Vincent Thomas of Greenville on the night of February 20, 2010, during the armed holdup of Bonnie Lou’s Game Room on State Highway 276.
Both Ramirez and Williams pleaded not guilty. Williams’ trial is scheduled starting Monday. Thomas was shot and killed during a gun battle with a Hunt County Sheriff’s Deputy following a chase which ended at the Greenville city limits.
