Greenville – The City of Greenville is accepting applications for those seeking funding supported by the Municipal Hotel Occupancy Tax for FY 2009-2010.
The deadline for an organization to submit an application is Friday, July 31. Additionally, those applying for funds will make a presentation to the Tourism & Convention Advisory Board on August 7.
In a release issued by the city, organizations are encouraged to strive to ensure that their programs promote tourism in the community and ultimately encourage hotel occupancy.
The Texas Legislature adopted the Municipal Hotel Occupancy Tax to provide cities a vehicle to help promote the tourism and convention business; cultural arts activities and programs; and, historical preservation and restoration. State law requires that funding be for the purpose of promoting tourism and the hotel industry.
Applications are available at City Hall located at 2821 Washington Street in the Main Street Office or on the city's website at www.ci.greenville.tx.us.
