April is Child Abuse Prevention Month
Every day, thousands of CASA volunteers are working hard to change the lives of children in foster care.
Court Appointed Special Advocate Gene Lockhart explained, “You become aware of what’s going on in the lives of children that have been removed due to either neglect or abuse… Quite honestly, having spent almost my entire career in higher education, I was blissfully ignorant of the desperate needs that we have for these children. In Hunt County at Christmas time last year, we were servicing 178 children.”
During Child Abuse Prevention Month, citizens are asked to take time to focus on the need to protect children from abuse.
