Area drug busts

By Kevin Jefferies

Northeast Texas – Area police have been busy recently making several drug busts. The DPS found nearly $8,500 in suspected drug money this week after making a stop along Highway 19 near Sulphur Springs. Two Hugo men were stopped for speeding and had extensive criminal histories including drug convictions. The two were released without being charged.

In Franklin County, a State Trooper busted a pair of Arkansas men with 10 pounds of marijuana after a traffic stop Tuesday.

Terrell Police Service officers arrested four men Wednesday for possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. Two 18-year-old males, a 19-year-old man and a 27-year-old were all taken into custody after officers found a quantity of crack cocaine in the residence in the 700 block of Mt. Olive in Terrell. Weapons and ammunition were also found at the scene. The Terrell Police Service also made an arrest earlier this month, confiscating more than 300 grams of methamphetamine.
