Area election briefs

Hunt County – Some area election results from Saturday:

In Commerce, incumbent Debbie Akin wins convincingly for Place 6 on the Commerce ISD School Board; Medley Wilson defeats Robert Rabb for Place 7, replacing Mitchell Scott who did not file for re-election.

Neither Floyd nor Union Valley passed measures to incorporate the communities to Class C municipalities.

Leahmon F. Bryant wins the Greenville City Council Place 2 position; Fred Thomas wins for Place 6. Leah R. Tillotson wins for District 5 on the Greenville School Board.

In the Hunt Memorial Hospital District, Phillip Kilgore wins as Commissioner of Precinct 2.

Voters in Lone Oak pass a $6 million bond package for schools. Voters in Lone Oak and Celeste also approved reauthorizations of local sales and use taxes.

And voters in West Tawakoni repeal the 4a Economic Development Corporation and approve the creation of a 4b EDC.
