Northeast Texas –

HOPKINS COUNTY:

A collection agency will be going after $1.5 million in unpaid fine in Hopkins County. The agency has been hired to go after the outstanding fines due to the office of the justice of the peace. 30% will be added as the collection agency's fee.

QUINLAN:

Three people are dead after a four-car wreck near Quinlan Wednesday afternoon. The accident occurred along Highway 276 near the Farm Road 36 intersection.

A westbound tractor-trailer driven by 29-year-old Norris Montgomery of Tyler failed to make a slight curve in the road, and entered the eastbound lane, striking a truck driven by 39-year-old Denise Deshazer of West Tawakoni. 51-year-old Mary Sue Shaddox of Terrell was also in the vehicle with Deshazer.

All three were pronounced dead at the scene. Two other vehicles were also struck, with no major injuries.

Deshazer was a mother of two, with children in kindergarten and second grade. An account has been set up for the Deshazer family, and donation can be made at any American National Bank location.

RED RIVER COUNTY:

A Red River County man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for his role in the accidental shooting death of his 11-year-old grandson. Donny Ray Mathis Sr. pleaded guilty Monday to manslaughter. After two days of deliberation, the jury returned the 15 year sentence, which is just shy of the 20 year maximum.

Conflicting stories from the house may have led to the lengthy sentence.
