ROCKWALL

Rockwall Police are looking for a man that robbed a convenience store with what he claimed was an explosive device. The man left the store at Ridge Road and I-30 with a manila envelope full of cash after showing the cashier an object with wires sticking out of his pocket that the man claimed was some sort of bomb.

FANNIN, LAMAR COUNTY

About 150 Fannin County residents gathered earlier this week to voice opposition to a proposal by the Brazos Electric Co-op that would put electric transmission lines across Northern Fannin and Lamar Counties. Residents gathered to discuss ways to collectively oppose the project the could see their land devalued and add potential health risks without providing service to Fannin or Lamar counties or lowering local utility rates.

Fannin County Judge Derrell Hall told the crowd the Fannin County Commissioner's court was unanimously opposed to the project.

PARIS, TEXAS

The Paris City Council is likely to conduct an investigation into the leadership of Fire Chief Ronnie Grooms. Questions have recently been raised about turmoil within the city's fire department that has seen 20 Paris Firefighters leave in the past two years. Current and former firefighters said non-competitive pay and lowered benefits are a factor, but a primary motivation for departure revolves around Grooms' leadership ability.
