Area residents charged with operating chop shop

By Brad Kellar

Hunt County – Two Hunt County residents have been charged with operating a chop shop in Florida.

Kevin Lee Aberle and Carol Michelle Porter are alleged to have taken part in an operation which disassembled stolen automobiles for the purpose of selling them as parts.

Both Aberle and Porter were taken into custody Monday in Greenville and transferred to the Hunt County Jail without bond on outstanding warrants from Escambia County, Florida. Both were charged with owning/operating, conducting or aiding and abetting a "chop shop".

During a Wednesday hearing, both Aberle and Porter waived formal extradition hearings and were ordered to be transferred into the custody of Florida sheriff's officials.
