– The Texas Education Agency has awarded full accreditation to all area school districts and charter schools and to 97 percent of schools statewide.
According to the report issued last week, 1,198 of the state's 1,232 districts received an accredited status; while 20 districts or charters were listed below the accredited level and the status of 14 districts was pending.
The accreditation system examines both the financial and academic health of districts and charter schools. It also examines performance in other areas such as data reporting, special program effectiveness, and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
