Arraignment hearing set in Walmart robbery case

Greenville Herald-Banner

A Hays County man is scheduled to be arraigned this week on an indictment for armed robbery, in connection with the reported hold-up of the Greenville Walmart store.

Christopher Wayne Pressley Hinnenkamp may also be responsible for two more robberies at Walmart stores in Texas and Iowa.

The Hunt County grand jury issued an indictment against Hinnenkamp in December with one count of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.

An arraignment hearing is scheduled Thursday morning in the 354th District Court, at which time Hinnenkamp may enter a plea to the indictment. Judge Richard A. Beacom may then set a tentative trial date in the case.

The indictment alleged Hinnenkamp used a firearm to threaten a male Walmart employee while in the course of committing a theft on October 27.

At last report Hinnenkamp, 25, of San Marcos, was in custody in the Hill County Jail after being arrested by the Hillsboro Police Department in early November. Hinnenkamp was being held in lieu of a total of $925,000 bond on several counts, including a $500,000 bond out of Hunt County for the local aggravated robbery charge.

It was not known as of Saturday whether Hinnenkamp will be transported to the Hunt County Jail in time for Thursday’s arraignment hearing.

Hinnenkamp was taken into custody in connection with a reported October 28 robbery at a Walmart in Hillsboro. Hinnenkamp, a former Walmart employee, is also charged with an August 28 robbery of the retail store in Le Mars, Iowa during which a man used a knife to threaten an employee and get access to a safe.

Aggravated robbery is a first degree felony, punishable upon conviction by a maximum sentence of from five to 99 years to life in prison.

During the Greenville incident, the police department first received a call at around 11:30 p.m. October 27 of an armed suspect inside the store.

Witness accounts  indicated employees directed customers to an area at the back of the store, as the term “Code Brown” came over the loudspeaker

The customers were asked to remain in place for about 10 minutes before being allowed to return to the rest of the store.

The suspect was described as a white male, dressed entirely in black clothing, who escaped from the store using an emergency exit.
