Arrest made in Commerce shooting

By Kevin Jefferies

Commerce – An arrest has been made in a Saturday evening shooting in Commerce. The name of the suspect has not been released as of Sunday because the person had not been formally charged or arraigned. Charges are expected to be filed today.

The arrest comes after 37 year old Wade Star from the Campbell area was shot in the back Saturday with a high-powered rifle. Two shots were fired inside a home on Oak Lane in Commerce, and a third shot struck Star as he ran outside the house. The suspect was apprehended at the home after initially fleeing the scene.

Star remains in a Dallas hospital and his condition has been upgraded from critical to serious. The suspect is expected to be charged with aggravated assault.
