Attempted robbery of Farmersville Bank

Farmersville – Three suspects are in custody in connection with an attempted bank robbery in Farmersville. Just before noon Monday, a hold-up alarm was sounded at First Bank of Farmersville. Two black men wearing ski masks, one of which was armed, entered the bank and demanded money. However, the two men left before getting any money and met a third man waiting in a truck.

Witnesses say the men abandoned the truck for another vehicle south of the city. The truck was later found to be reported stolen Sunday out of Rockwall County. Police stopped the second vehicle based on witness descriptions and took all three men into custody.

In an apparently unrelated incident also in Farmersville, the Dyer Drug Store was robbed around 3am Monday. Medication, narcotics, and cash were taken and the store was ransacked.
