Authorities charge Martin with two more counts

By Scott Harvey

Sulphur Springs – A week after a Hopkins County jury acquitted Brian Chad Martin on charges of assaulting a peace office, District Attorney Peter Morgan files new charges against him.

The new charge lists a different officer as the victim. Another new charge was evading an officer with a vehicle.

Martin had pleaded not guilty to the assault charges. He did plead guilty to solicitation of a minor, which led to a ten year prison sentence and $70,000 fine.

Martin reportedly tried to meet up with the girl at a local church, which is where he was intercepted by local law enforcement and the assaults on the officers allegedly occurred.
