Authorities make drug bust on campus

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – An undercover narcotics investigation on the Texas A&M University-Commerce campus led to the arrest of two student-athletes Friday.

Sgt Chris Vaughan with the Commerce Police Department began an investigation into the sale of marijuana after he was approached by a confidential source. During the investigation, purchases of marijuana were made from an apartment at McGill Hall within the West Halls area on campus. Sgt Vaughan was then able to obtain probable cause for the issuance of a search warrant.

The search netted several baggies of marijuana that were packaged to sale, pills and other items of drug paraphernalia.

The names of the students, who are football players, were not immediately available.
