Blame the wind!

By Bill Oliver

Commerce, TX –

Strong winds Tuesday caused power outages and other aggravations on and off the campus of Texas A&M University-Commerce. Among the victims was KETR.

University officials said the momentary outages were caused by tree limbs that blew into power lines. One observer noted the outages slowed down once the wind direction moved from the west to the northwest. Weather instruments atop the A&M-Commerce Science Building measured sustained wind speeds at 40 to 50 mph.

Tuesday morning's outages were long enough to turn off computers and other electronic devices, including the equipment that keeps KETR on the air.

When KETR goes off the air, it takes about five minutes to reset the computers to resume programming on-air and online. Thanks for your patience!
