Ballard takes responsibility for robbery, sentenced

By Scott Harvey

Paris – A judge has ordered 30 years behind bars for a Paris convenience store robbery suspect.

47-year-old Darren Ballard was alleged to have demanded money and cigarettes while armed with a gun.

State district judge Eric Clifford sentenced Ballard after hearing testimony from the two store clerks who were robbed and the defendant's two daughters and his mother.

Ballard took full responsibility for his actions. He told the judge he had just lost $600 or $700 at an Oklahoma casino and was high on methamphetamine when he committed the robbery.
