Ballots being prepared for general election
It is going to be about another month before voters know exactly who will be on the ballots for the November 4 general election.
Hunt County Elections Administrator Mina Cook said the final ballots are scheduled to be distributed soon.
“It is probably going to be around the second week of September,” Cook said.
There are still some last minute additions being made to the names which will appear on the ballots in state races.
For example, last week the Republican County Chairmen of Collin, Dallas, Grayson, Hunt County, Kaufman and Rockwall counties announce Craig Stoddart had been selected to be the Republican nominee to replace Justice Jim Moseley on the Fifth District Court of Appeals.
“Saturday, September 20 is the deadline to mail out military ballots,” Cook said. “We’ll definitely have the ballots ready by then.”
While most races on a local level were decided during the May political party primaries, there are several statewide contests — including the Texas Governor’s office — which will be determined during the November 4 election.
September 5 is the first day to apply for a ballot by mail. October 6 is the last day to register to vote, or make sure the address is correct on the voter registration, to be eligible to cast a ballot for the election.
Early voting is scheduled October 24-31.
