Big Event tomorrow!

By Kevin Jefferies

Commerce – The Big Event is tomorrow in Commerce. It will be the eighth year the City of Commerce and Texas A&M University-Commerce have come together to improve the appearance, facilities, and safety of Commerce.

The Big Event will go from 9am to 1pm tomorrow. Some of the planned projects will be painting the lampposts downtown, beautifying the shores of Gee Lake, picking up litter, and planting flowers in various places throughout the city.

Local Authors will also be honored at the Commerce public Library at 2pm with a reception. The Fire Department will be installing free smoke detectors to any household in need, the Hunt County Barn on North Bois d'Arc Street will be open from 8am to 1pm to take in and dispose of car tires, household chemicals, paint, and batteries, and the Masonic Lodge will be offering a free stew lunch for all the volunteers from 11am to 1pm at the Commerce City Park.
