The Blue defeated the White in a scrimmage on March 1.

Deric Davis threw for three touchdowns for the White Team on Saturday, leading them to a 28-7 win over the Blue Team in Texas A&M University-Commerce's annual Spring Game at Memorial Stadium.

Big plays were the theme of the day, with the White Team striking for three long touchdowns in the second quarter to stake itself to a 21-0 lead at the half after both teams went scoreless in the opening quarter.

Davis connected with Seth Smith, Hayden Marsh and Vernon Johnson for scores of 31, 29 and 63 yards in the period and finished with 273 total yards through the air, accounting for the majority of the White Team's 400 yards of total offense.

Meanwhile, the White defense stood out as well, holding the Blue Squad to just 129 total yards on the day. Newcomer Devar Brown led the way for the White Team posting 3 sacks on the afternoon.

Broderick Thomas led the way for the Blue Team finishing with a team leading 12 tackles while Brandon Turner, Frazer Tuau, and Tu'u Lui finished with 2 sacks a piece. The lone bright spot offensively for the Blue Team came on the second play of the third quarter when quarterback Harrison Stewart hit Ricky Collins for a 50-yard touchdown pass.

"We saw a lot of good things today," head coach Colby Carthel said. "It was a lot of fun, but even with the good, we know there is still a lot of work to do to continue to get better heading into next season and into the remainder of practice."

A unique aspect to this year's festivities was the addition of a guest coach for each side. Former Lion Football Lettermen Mike Lamb and Blake Cooper got the chance to lead their respective squads from the sidelines of Memorial Stadium.

The Lions still have five practices remaining before wrapping the spring ball season.
