Bio-diesel plant fraud suspects formerly charged

By Brad Kellar

McKinney – Two Rowlett residents have been indicted in an alleged scheme to sell shares of a fake power plant.

Kenneth Paul Lawrence and Casey Ray Van Lune have been indicted by the Collin County Grand Jury for theft by appropriation. The two are alleged to have swindled more than a dozen individuals out of more than $720,000 in 2008 and 2009.

Lawrence reportedly misrepresented that the company, Greenway Energy Partners LLC had entered into an agreement with another company to build a bio-diesel plant in Hunt County. He also allegedly told investors they would receive annual returns of 33 percent for five years, but failed to disclose that previous investors funds were used to pay for his personal expenses.
