Bond reduction denied for Commerce assault suspect

Commerce – A bond reduction is denied for a Commerce teenager, charged with aggravated assault in a June stabbing incident.

17-year-old Corey Dominic Heath has reportedly confessed to slashing the throat of the victim following an argument over a shirt.

Heath's defense council had filed a motion in the case to determine if there was probable cause to hold him in the Hunt County Jail on $35,000 bond. That motion was denied Tuesday. No additional hearings were immediately scheduled.

The crime occurred on in the 1900 block of Pecan St. The victim's throat was reportedly cut from his adam's apple to his ear with a pocket knife, and required about 1,000 stitches to close.
