GREENVILLE - Prosecutors have decided they’ll also seek the death penalty against a Campbell man, the co-defendant in last summer’s death of a two-year-old boy.

Arturo Vega appeared in court Wednesday, a day after Gabriela Ortiz stood before a judge.

The two remain in the Hunt County Jail each on $2 million bond for the alleged murder of Brandon Herrera. The boy was in both Vega and Ortiz’s care when he died.

Hunt County District Attorney Noble D. Walker stated Wednesday he would seek the death penalty for Vega, should he be convicted. He had previously stated he would seek the same punishment if Ortiz is found guilty.
