Brown receives Mayo Professorship Award

Commerce – Texas A&M University-Commerce Early Childhood Education Professor Dr. David L. Brown has been awarded the 2010 William L. Mayo Professorship Award.

Dr. Brown was honored during a special University Convocation Tuesday morning.

A leader in the national preschool movement, Dr. Brown is a recognized researcher in the areas of Emergent Literacy and Early Childhood Education, and is a frequent presenter at national and international conferences.

The purpose of the William L. Mayo Professorship award is to provide recognition to an individual who epitomizes the goals of Professor Mayo's motto: "Ceaseless Industry, Fearless Investigation, Unfettered Thought."

The award is presented every third year to an individual who displays outstanding manner, primarily in teaching, but also in scholarship and service to the university community.
