Hungry residents of the City of Greenville are getting closer to being able to buy a Whopper.
Construction is expected to begin soon on a new Burger King, which will be built on the parking lot of the Wal-Mart Supercenter, 7401 Interstate 30.
A building permit had been issued for the restaurant as of last week. City of Greenville Building Official Steve Methven said signs of movement are expected on the project in the next week or so.
It is the latest in a series of restaurants building or expanding in Greenville this year.
The Cotton Patch Cafe is nearing completion in the Kari Beth Shopping Center along the westbound Interstate 30 frontage road.
The “Ain’t Just Pie” restaurant is being built in the Farmers Market in downtown Greenville.
Construction is under way on a new McDonald’s in Greenville, which is being built on land next to the existing restaurant at 4705 Moulton Street.
As of late last week, there had not been movement on a Golden Chick restaurant which had been announced for Greenville. A sign for the Golden Chick restaurant was placed earlier this year on the westbound Interstate 30 service road next to the Collin Street Bakery.
