Burn ban lifted

By Kevin Jefferies

Hunt County – The burn ban for Hunt County has been lifted. County commissioners voted to end the burn ban yesterday in special session. Recent rains prompted the session and the recommendation by Hunt County Fire Marshall Mike Pierce to lift the burn ban. Residents can now legally burn brush, limbs, and untreated lumber.

The ban had been in place since June 26th after two years of drought in Northeast Texas. Hunt County is one of the last counties in the region to lift their burn ban.
