Burn ban may be lifted

By Kevin Jefferies

Commerce – Hunt County Commissioners will consider lifting the burn ban today in special session. It will be the second time in two weeks the Commissioner's Court has considered lifting the burn ban. After some areas of the counties received more than four inches of rain over the weekend, Hunt County Fire Marshall Mike Pierce said conditions are right to lift the ban.

The burn ban has been in place in Hunt County since June 26th. Most surrounding counties have lifted their burn bans already, but Hunt County Commissioner's previously left the ban in place after noting an increase in wildfires in surrounding areas after burn bans had been lifted.
