Commerce – Students at Texas A&M University-Commerce returning to school Tuesday for the start of the spring semester will notice some changes to the front of campus.
Crews have broke ground for construction of the new Music Building. As such, parking Lot A, west of the old Memorial Student Center and south of Memorial Stadium, has been closed permanently, as the new Music Building which will occupy the site. The new facility is scheduled to be open in July 2010. An official groundbreaking ceremony for the new Music Building will take place February 6.
During construction, contractors will enter and exit from the Highway 24/50 service road west of the site. Memorial Drive, between the old MSC and the site, will be closed north of the Post Office driveway.
The new facility will eventually require demolition of the old Memorial Student Center. Crews moved into the new Sam Rayburn Student Center last month. Grant Opening for the new Sam Rayburn Student Center is January 30.
