Canton, TX –

Click on the mp3 icon to hear comments from Jerald Thomas, the owner of Cowhill Express in Commerce. Thomas is among the thousands of vendors and tens of thousands of shoppers at Canton's monthly Trade Days, many who were already on the grounds Friday morning when a tornado passed through.

Tornadoes in and east of the KETR listening area Friday morning did not result in the deaths, injuries, and damage seen elsewhere in the nation's midsection. However, it could have happened in Canton as the monthly Canton Trade Days opened. Among those riding out the brief tornado on the Trade Days grounds was vendor Jerald Thomas of Commerce.

One RV was toppled on the Trade Days grounds, trapping a woman who was removed with just minor injuries. Canton city authorities added two more were injured from overturned vehicles and taken to hospitals.

The tornado may have touched down twice in Canton, again for very brief periods. Other touchdowns were reported north of Carthage, and between Carthage and Henderson around New Prospect and Beckville.
