Chancellor Sharp to deliver important announcement

AUSTIN - There’s curiosity surrounding a planned announcement by Texas A&M University System Chancellor John Sharp Monday in Austin.

Officials have not confirmed what the 12 p .m. event will address, simply stating in a press release that the "important announcement is regarding A&M System research initiatives.”

However, the Texas Tribune reports the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services plans a simultaneous Monday news conference to name the institution that will develop vaccines and medicines to protect the public health in emergencies. The center will help train the bio-pharmaceutical workforce of the future. A&M has been working for some time to host one of those biotech centers.
