Chandler gets nine years for 2006 DWI arrest

GREENVILLE - Nearly five years after first indicted for driving while intoxicated a former West Tawakoni resident is sentenced to prison.

Darren Ferris Chandler pleaded guilty Monday and was sentenced to nine years behind bars. He was given almost five years credit for time already served.

Chandler was returned to Hunt County in August on a bench warrant from state prison to face the indictment that was issued on December 8, 2006 in connection to the alleged offense from earlier that year.

The indictment against Chandler also listed three felony convictions for involuntary manslaughter from 1994 out of Kaufman County.
