Changes Coming to Local Commute

GREENVILLE — There will be a change coming with the new year for motorists driving to and from L-3 Communications Integrated Systems, the Greenville Air Park and other businesses along  Farm Road 1570/Jack Finney Boulevard. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has announced the signal located on FM 1570/Jack Finney Boulevard at Air Park in Greenville will soon be placed on flash mode.

Instead of the standard red, yellow and green designations in either direction, the signal light will be flashing yellow for FM 1570 traffic and flashing red for traffic on Air Park.

According to the TxDOT announcement, a recent traffic study was requested by the City of Greenville and indicated the signal at the intersection no longer met the required warrants.

The traffic at the location will continue to be monitored and a determination whether or not to remove the signal altogether is pending.

Current tenants of the Air Park, which is overseen by the Greenville Economic Development Corporation, include McKesson, OmniSYS, and Texas Book Company.

Anyone driving to and from Greenville Christian School and the Phoenix Charter School are also likely to be impacted by the change.
