Charges dropped for one man in Commerce robbery

By Brad Kellar

Commerce – Charges have been dropped in connection with a Commerce armed robbery. Marcus Ladaine Stevenson, of Greenville, is one of three men to have pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated robbery and aggravated sexual assault during an alleged hold up at a Commerce residence last summer. Prosecutors said Monday there was insufficient evidence to proceed with the case against Stevenson. Stevenson, George Washington Sharper of Commerce, and Melroy Lynn Anderson of Emory each were arrested in July 2007 for an alleged robbery in the 2500 block of Solomon Drive in Commerce. The status of the aggravated robbery charges filed against Sharper and Anderson was unknown as of Monday evening.
