Cherry found guilty; to face punishment this week

GREENVILLE - A Greenville woman was convicted Friday of attempting to kill her newborn daughter.

Lola Danielle Cherry faces up to life in prison upon sentencing, scheduled for sometime this week.

Prosecutors claim Cherry pushed a diaper wipe down her twelve-week-old child’s throat in 2009 because she did not want her to grow up in an unstable household. But the defense argued that the then 17-year-old Cherry was coerced into making a confession after being interrogated for two hours by authorities.
