Hunt County – The caregivers of a two-year-old boy are expected to be charged in connection to the youth's death, after he was found dead Sunday morning near the FM 513 overpass near Campbell.
Hunt County Chief Deputy Joe Knight says the Sheriff's Office is treating the case as a homicide investigation, as the child had been dead for some time and suffered massive blunt force trauma.
The white male and white female caregivers, both 21 years old, reportedly called the Hunt County Sheriff's office to report the boy was not breathing. They were said to be transporting the child to the Greenville hospital when they were met by emergency medical personnel who were already at the scene of a nearby accident.
The incident, according to Chief Deputy Knight, is the worst case he has ever seen.
Investigators from Hunt County and Dallas are searching for the mother of the boy, who is believed to be the caregiver's cousin. No names will be released until the mother is contacted.
