Commerce – The Northeast Texas Children's Museum announced a major gift from the Region 8 Education Service District based in Mt. Pleasant. Children's Museum Board President Wyman Williams said the money is a major gift covering a significant portion of the Museum's operating budget and creates a partnership with the schools in Region 8.
A&M-Commerce President Keith McFarland said that since the children's museum has moved to the former Watson Cafeteria on campus, the association with the university has helped makes grants like this available.
A major fund raising effort was also announced. The museum will soon begin attempting to raise $300,000 for operations and improvements.
