Christmas parade tonight

By Kevin Jefferies

Commerce – The Commerce Christmas Parade and Christmas on the Square are set for tonight. Festivities gear up at 4:30 this afternoon with live performances from the Commerce Middle School Bands and Li Sher Dance Studio. The second annual Michael Pee Wee Walker Victims of Violent Crime Vigil will be at 6:15 this evening, followed by the tree lighting ceremony at 6:30 as the Girl Scouts sing holiday music.

Apple cider, hot chocolate, chili, and stew will be available and free horse-drawn carriage rides around the square will be offered leading up to the parade, which starts at 7pm. The parade will start from the Commerce City Park and travel along North Park Street before turning west on Main Street. The parade then turns onto Washington Street and travels back to the city park.

Bringing up the rear will of course be Santa Claus, with candy for everyone.
