CHS Principal Montgomery named Citizen of Year

COMMERCE – A number of awards were handed out during Thursday's 101st annual Commerce Chamber of Commerce Banquet. 

Commerce High School Principal Virdie Montgomery took home the prize of Citizen of the Year for his efforts at the district and in the community. Montgomery was thanked for, among other things, the district's involvement in Rachel's Challenge, a nationwide school outreach program for the prevention of teen violence.

Thursday's banquet theme was Big Band, Big Business, and featured a number of musical and dance performances from the era.

Agriculturalist of the Year went to Ted Oats, June Dunn won the Golden Service Award, Distinguished Community Service Award went to Sheri Humphries, Thalians were awarded the prize for Distinguished Group for community Service and Doug Rohrabaugh received the Distinguished Community Partnership Award.
