CISD announces Hohenberger as lone finalist

COOPER - Following executive session Monday, trustees voted to make Denicia  Hohenberger the lone finalist for the position. She has been serving as interim superintendent since the resignation of Jason Marshall in July.

Hohenberger has worked as a special education teacher, a counselor, assistant principal and curriculum director for Cooper ISD. 15 of her 17 years in education have been with the district.

Also as part of Monday’s meeting, trustees reviewed the district’s Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST Rating). Cooper received a “superior achievement” with a 78, scoring maximum points in 21 of 22 areas. The Board unanimously voted to join the unincorporated association concerning the Equity Center’s lawsuit against the state which challenges the current school finance system. Passing with a 6-0 vote was the STAAR/End of Course Grading policy.

In a special called meeting Friday evening, the Board nominated Allen Beeler and Thomas Darden for the appraisal district board of directors.
