CISD Board hears dress code draft

By Kevin Jefferies

Commerce – Preliminary plans for a standardized dress code were presented to the Commerce Board of Trustees earlier this week. The plan was a rough draft that took examples from 10 other districts. Some of the key areas of the plan limited shirts to oxford or polo style of various colors, and slacks or skirts.

Bobbie Thurman heads the committee drafting the new policy. Also discussed was a program to help low-income families pay for the clothes, which could present significant cost to the district with nearly 500 students qualifying for assistance under the plan.
