CISD to discuss tax rate, accountability ratings

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – The Commerce ISD meets in regular session Monday night to address the tax rate, plus receive an update on district's recent accountability ratings.

Administrators have proposed a tax rate of $1.04 per $100 valuation for the 2009-2010 school year, the same as last year. A public meeting is to be held regarding the tax rate prior to adoption.

The board of trustees is also slated to receive a report on the 2009 Accountability Ratings released by the Texas Education Agency last month. CISD is currently appealing a district rating of academically unacceptable following what officials call a clerical error.

Also Monday, administrators plan to discuss and possibly approve an interlocal agreement with Texas A&M University-Commerce, plus discuss and consider salary increases.

Monday's meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the Commerce Middle School library, located at 606 Culver.
