Commerce – The Commerce Independent School District is holding a welcome reception for new superintendent Blake Cooper Monday.
In October, the Board of trustees voted unanimously to name Blake Cooper as it's lone finalist.
Cooper began his duties as superintendent January 5th. He previously served as the assistant superintendent at Kaufman ISD for two years, and prior to that principal of Edgewood High School for seven years.
Former Quinlan Superintendent Larry Johnson has been serving in the interim position since the resignation of former superintendent Mike Roberts last summer.
Monday's welcome ceremony takes place from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Commerce Middle school Library.
