Commerce – The Commerce School Board has approved the hiring of an interim superintendent. During a special meeting Monday night, the board unanimously chose Larry Johnson to serve at the post.
Johnson has worked in education for 37 years, with several of which have been served in Hunt County. He's most recently served as Superintendent of the Quinlan Independent School District and also for the Bland Independent School District. Johnson will begin his duties on Monday, August 4.
The hiring comes a week after the appointment of search firm Arrow Education Services. In addition to assisting in the hiring of Johnson, AES will seek a full time replacement for Mike Roberts, who stepped down as CISD Superintendent earlier this month.
